Finishing touches on the last of 100 oil pourers this week. I wish they were quicker to make than they really are. I can only make about 6-8 an hour with slip decoration and exact sizing to fit pourer spouts. I’m making massive amounts of all the top sellers now hoping to leave more time for experimentation as the year goes on. Good news! The first 2 shows of the year are set and they are both new. I’ve been juried into the Marion Arts Festival (Marion, IA) and invited to the 60 Artists on 50th (Minneapolis, MN). My head is sort of spinning from applying to so many shows mixed with big plans for my booth along with making a ton of new work! Did I mention I’m also testing new glazes and a new clay too! Small alterations to a new run of butter/cheese dishes. A bit of a glaze catch at the foot of the lid and a textured band. I’m excited to see these glazed! I’ve got one more month of making before I begin glazing this year. Because I spray glazes I pull in too much cold air while glazing to glaze in such cold weather.
